Biographical Note
Cora Luella Gettys Key was born in Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska and graduated from the Department of Political and Social Sciences with a masters degree in 1921. After continuing her education at Bryn Mawr College, she received a Doctorate in Political Science in 1925 from the University of Illinois. She then worked at the University of Chicago as a research assistant in the Political Science Department. While there she met Valdimer Orlando (V.O.) Key Jr. who getting his Ph.D. in political science, and they were married on October 27, 1934. She went on to work at the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service from the 1930s to 1950s.
