George Cather Ray Collection
 page of a letter
A page of a letter G.P. wrote to his mother on 15 December 1917.
Willa Cather wrote in a letter to her Aunt Franc on 12 June 1918 that she felt proud that a Cather sacrificed his life for a great cause. Two years later, while traveling in France, Willa found her cousin's gravesite in Villiers Tournelle, near Cantigny.

As part of his officer training, G.P. kept notes that reflect the information he learned about artillery, care of his troops, tactics, and how to react in battle.
